Who We Are
Chas Justus has been involved in the music industry since 1999 when he co-founded the Louisiana roots band The Red Stick Ramblers. Over the years he has performed and recorded with artists like T Bone Burnett, Linda Rondstadt, Jay Ungar and Tim O’Brien, to name a few. His current band, The Revelers, has been tearing up the festival and concert scene in the last several years, as well as garnering a Grammy nomination in 2015, and appearing on HBO's Treme and Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion. Chas also helps organize the popular Blackpot Festival in Lafayette, which is about to go into its 11th year. Chas had already been writing freelance articles and biographies when he was enlisted by his good friend and mentor Devon Leger of HearthPR to work alongside Roger Kash & Sabra Guzmán to start a new publicity company, Bird’s Word PR, specializing in roots music. These days, he’s interested most in making sure talented musicians get the recognition they deserve.
Sabra Guzmán is a renowned old-time & country music singer, and upright bass player, who’s toured and played with string bands like Old Buck with Riley Baugus, The Mercury Dimes, Old Sledge with Chance McCoy of the Old Crow Medicine Show, and currently fronts a honky-tonk band called The Get Rights in Lafayette. Since 2012, Sabra has worked for record labels, such as Yellow Dog Records (blues), and for Rebel Records as their Radio Promotions Director in Charlottesville VA (one of the longest standing bluegrass labels in the world). She also loves cast iron pans, tequila on ice with lime, and running with dogs (not scissors).
